Dirt....The Other Food Group

So Mama and Daddy took me back to the farm so I could show Dad the cows. There was a new calf just born and he was all by himself in the barn.

Dad put me in the stall with the little calf. He wasn't very big and I liked petting him.
Then we went to Rita's and took some pictures in the grass. I am getting so good at standing up and getting so very close to taking a step.

After visiting with Aggi and Marv we went out to their garden to see the corn. Mama wanted to take a few pictures of me so I stood there holding on to the stalks while Daddy snapped away. It was so bright out and there was so much to see I really wasn't interested in getting my picture taken, I wanted to check out the corn.

Then I noticed Mama fiddling with her camera and looking through the pictures. Daddy had walked off so I was all alone. I looked down and there was the dirt. I hadn't been in dirt before. And what better way to check it out than to taste it. I grabbed a chunk and put it in my mouth. Interesting... it was a little hard and gritty but after a while it it softened up a little and turned mushy. I had enough so I spit it out. And wouldn't you know they thought it was "adorable" and starting clicking pictures again.

My First 'O'

Dad was feeding me the usual; pear-apricot-oatmeal yourt, butternut squash and mango mixed with plums. What a smorgasbord!!After we were done with all of that, he gave me some bananas pieces and a few 'O' puffs since I am practicing my chewing. He placed a few on my tray and I figured out how to pick them up and eat them myself. It is still a little hard but I am persistant sometimes grabbing three or
four in my hands hoping to get one in my mouth. I tried with both hands, I haven't figured out which hand I prefer yet!

She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not

Mom has been showing me all kinds of flowers. There are so many colors.

This weekend we looked at a bright sunflower. It was big and I could get my hands around it.

I even got to pull off some petals.

They are pretty neat to pull apart. But they don't go back on so well-- why is that? I heard her say, "she loves me, she loves me not", but I know she'll always love me no matter if I pull all the petals off!

A Day in OZ

This weekend Mamma and Daddy took me to the Oregon Zoo. It was a really nice day so we packed 'Bob' (my stroller) with all the essentials (diapers, diapers, a bottle and more diapers) and took off.

Now, in my world everything seems so big, but this place was huge! It seemed like we walked and walked, or in my case strolled, before we got to see any animals. But it was worth it. I got to see a few bears, which Mamma shows me on my flashcards when she roars. And I got to see the white bears swimming and black bears laying in the sun or eating snow.

Then we came to a little barn with white woolly goats that I got to pet. I have seen those on my flashcards too. That was so fun! I love to pet animals. Daddy helped me. I kept wanting to touch their ears but the Zoo people asked us to only pet their backs and sides.

Then we went over to see the elephants. There was even a baby elephant with his Mamma. And the Daddy elephants are so tall I had to lean out of my stoller to see them.

Then we sat in the grass and watched some birds fly by. That was pretty neat. I actually liked being able to play in the grass more but the birds were pretty neat too. After the show Daddy and I got to donate money to a bird named Pierre and he took it from our hands.

Then we went by the Monkeys, Hippos and Giraffes. The Zebras were hiding and the big cats were at another Zoo while their home was being finished.

I had a take a quick break to have a bottle and get my diaper changed and then I was ready to go again.

And then I saw it, there were more goats to pet! I was getting a little tired since it was nap time but I rallied and went in to pet the goats. I wish I could have one. Then I could pet him all the time.

After the goats we high tailed it out of the Zoo and back home so I could take a rest. What a great day! I can't wait to go back when I am a little older. I will be running around with the rest of the kids pushing my way to the front of the glass.

On the Nussbaumer Farm

Today I visited Great Uncle Don and Aunt Rita and Great Uncle Marv and Great Aunt Aggi on their farm. It is soo big out there. I showed them how I could crawl and stand on my own. I got lots of lovin....it was great. Then Nana took me out to see my first cow.

They were a little scared of me but after a while they came around so I could pet their noses. I thought it was so funny. Their noses were warm and wet and then they opened their mouths and licked my fingers. It felt so funny, their tongues were so rough it tickled my fingers and toes. I just kept laughing and laughing.

Then their dog came around and I got to pet him as well. It was great. He was really friendly and kept trying to lick my face. Why do all dogs want to lick my face?

We went to see Don and Rita and they have a kitty named Tiger so I got to play with him. But he is really young and kept trying to play with me and they wouldn't let him. I guess he has sharp claws and won't play as nice as a dog. He didn't want me pulling his tail either.

Riedel Picnic

I got to hang out at Cory and Angi's. I got to meet so many new people. Some I hadn't seen since I was in the hospital.

Beth was there. She was my nurse at the hospital and one of the first people I ever saw.

I got to play with Henry. He let me drive his car with him.

And Grandma Dee brought Monty Dog for me to play with. He is so much fun.

And Great Grandma Larson brought Abby so I got to pet her too.

I don't think Abby likes me as much. I guess she doesn't like her hair pulled very much.

Bathing in my Big Boy Tub

Tonight Mama blew up my big boy tub and put it in the bathroom. I guess I got too big for my baby bathtub in the kitchen. Once I could turn the facet on she said it was time to move. It wasn't like I was going to burn myself with that hot water. She is always there to pull me away.

So in to the big tub I went. It isn't very big though. I did appreciate that matching plaything that she had covering the faucet head. She didn't like me taking it off to chew on it. But that was way more fun than just looking at it on the faucet. Besides what's life without a little danger, right?

I didn't want to sit for too long. I really like it that I can stand and move myself along furniture. So I promptly got out of my tub and tried to crawl of the big tub.
